Your chosen friends are able to see their general proximity to you. If you choose, you can verify your actual physical location to share the specific named location that you are currently visiting with your chosen friends. When you leave the location, eg™ will let your friends know that you are no longer there.

Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life. However, eg™ respects your battery. Highly accurate GPS location is only accessed by eg™ briefly when you open the app. When in the background, eg™ only accesses your location using iOSs built in significant location change, region monitoring, and iBeacons to help determine when you have arrived at your next destination.
